YELLOWSTONE

After leaving Jackson Hole, we headed into Yellowstone National Park for a day with the wild life. They were out and ready to be seen, it was such an exciting day. First, we stopped at the mud volcanoes and enjoyed the sweet aroma of sulfur as it bubbled up from the ground. Even though it wasn't the most pleasant smell it was hard not to appreciate what we were seeing.
After we left the mud volcanoes, we went to see the upper and lower falls. They are two of the most magnificent overlooks inside of Yellowstone. It was an exciting stop because not only were there awesome photo opportunities, but there was also an elk hanging out and eating right beside the road!
We also stopped at the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, which of course is a massive canyon full of yellow stone. What makes it even more breathtaking is that the river flows right through the heart of the canyon! It's beautiful!
On the way to our last stop at Old Faithful, we encountered bison, coyotes, and even a MOOSE!! We were so excited as moose are very hard to spot. They tend to be shy creatures, but this one was grazing in a meadow just waiting for us to come along. How wonderful!

Mud Volcanoes

While here you have to stay on the path, you never know where the ground is secure.  We lost a hat to the wind and unfortunately couldn't retrive it!

Bubbling up from inside this cave, looks mean...this one is called Dragon's Mouth

When I caught up to the group they were all huddled together, I found out later that they were all trying to see a Bison that was right below them.

This "little" guy came right up to the path.  Firendly little thing.

It truly is remarkable to be walking freely with such amazing creatures.

This is our friend the elk that was feeding in the grass near the overlook.  I took the picture throught the window, but you can see he was a big guy!

A view of the falls....yes, we were there.  It's breathtaking.
